Rise for Climate demo, 8th Sept. 2018An impressive crowd showed up at the Boyle Cross on the 8th September as part of the international RISE FOR CLIMATE campaign. Frome joined thousands of cities and towns around the world in holding an action and rally to demonstrate how the tide has turned in the race against climate change, to showcase climate action taking place around the world, and to inspire deeper commitments from each other and from national governments.

There were banners, bicycles, trailers, buggies, windmills, flowers, furry animals and colourful people. There were big fluorescent orange posters on the door of HSBC and near Barclays listing all the terrible things they invest their (our) money in. Many passers by beeped and waved to show their support. We finished with a march through Westway to the library and back. Frome Town Council launched pledge cards at the event to encourage people to switch to green energy and ethical bank, take the pledge here
